Today, EAMCEF marks 25 years of dedicated efforts toward the conservation of the EAMs, a journey that began on 6 June 2001, the day the Fund was established.

Over the years, EAMCEF has been actively committed to conserving the EAMs across four target regions; Morogoro, Iringa, Kilimanjaro, and Tanga. Our interventions have focused on 12 target districts: Kilolo DC, Morogoro DC, Mvomero DC, Mlimba DC, Morogoro MC, Ifakara TC, Same DC, Korogwe DC, Muheza DC, Mkinga DC, Lushoto DC, and Mufindi DC.

The EAMCEF’s conservation efforts prioritize nine Protected Areas: Udzungwa Mountains National Park and the Kilombero, Uzungwa Scarp, Mkingu, Amani, Nilo, Chome, Uluguru, and Magamba Nature Forest Reserves. A key focus has been improving the livelihoods of local communities living in the 244 villages adjacent to these Protected Areas.

Since its establishment, EAMCEF has worked closely with MNRT, TFS, Conservators, local communities, NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, Local Government Authorities, and other development partners to advance its mission and vision, ensuring that both the EAMs and the people who depend on them continue to thrive.
