What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

1. Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if applicable) will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

2. Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images posted on the site.

3. Contact Forms
When you fill out a contact form on our website, we collect your name, email address, and message content. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry or request. This data will not be used for marketing purposes unless you specifically opt-in to receive communications from us.

4. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to improve your experience, streamline the use of certain features, and help us understand user preferences. Cookies are small data files stored on your device when you visit our site.

  • Comments: If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
  • Login Information: If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Once logged in, several cookies will be set to save your login information and screen display preferences. When you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
  • Content Editing: If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

5. Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles and content on our site may include embedded material (e.g., videos, images, articles) from other websites. Embedded content behaves the same way as if you visited the other website directly. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged into those websites.
