Since 2006, EAMCEF has been dedicated to conserving the Eastern Arc Mountains, a biodiversity hotspot…
As we celebrate International Mountains Day, this year’s theme “Glaciers matter for Water, Food and Livelihoods in Mountains and beyond” reminds us that glaciers are not just ice; they are living water towers for people, nature, and economies downstream.
Eastern Arc Mountains Conservation Endowment Fund (EAMCEF) continues to recognize the immense value of Mountains as they sustain life far beyond their slopes. From Mountain springs to Rivers, from Farms to Cities, glaciers keep taps flowing, crops growing, and families thriving. Yet as they shrink under a changing climate, entire communities, ecosystems, and livelihoods are increasingly put at risk.
Recognizing their huge potential, EAMCEF has, since 2006, tirelessly supported the conservation of the Eastern Arc Mountains (EAMs) and improved local community livelihoods to ease pressure on natural resources. With this commitment, EAMCEF continues to raise a voice for the voiceless Mountains and glaciers calling for stronger climate action, safeguarding vital freshwater sources, and standing with adjacent communities who are on the frontlines.
Protecting glaciers means protecting water, food, and livelihoods in the Mountains and far beyond.Join the world, join #EAMCEF in conserving our Mountains, including the EAMs of Tanzania. Come one, come all. Together, we can sustain our precious Mountains.
